Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2026

Today marks the start of Eating Disorders Awareness Week and offers an opportunity to reflect and deepen our understanding.

The charity Beat estimates that more than 1.25 million people in the UK are impacted by eating disorders. This week it is encouraging people to think about how communities can help to support those who are struggling.

Eating disorders are multifaceted and often misunderstood. They can affect anyone, yet they frequently carry a profound sense of isolation.

This week, we acknowledge the efforts of our students, staff, and practitioners to promote inclusive and meaningful conversations about eating disorders. We also reflect on the ways that Metanoia Institute can continue to offer thoughtful and compassionate support to those affected. As a community of therapists, educators and students, we recognise the importance of creating spaces where complex experiences can be spoken about safely.
