Claire Clancey PGCertHE, PG Cert, BSc (Hons), Dip Couns, MBACP I am a Senior Academic Lecturer and qualified higher education educator (in the Teaching and Learning of Counselling and Psychotherapy) , teaching on the Diploma and MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy. I am the Online and Phone Therapy (OPT) Lead tutor across the BSc programmes and Course Lead for Metanoia’s Professional Award in the Facilitation of Online and Phone Therapy. I am also one of the institute’s AI Leads and an Educational Lead for Teaching, Learning, Assessment and Feedback (TLAF). Alongside my academic work, I practice as a therapist and supervisor in private practice. My work is grounded in a humanistic approach, drawing on Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis modalities. I have also undertaken psychotherapy studies in existential and psychodynamic approaches. My trauma-informed practice focuses on long-term therapeutic work with clients experiencing trauma, domestic violence, suicidal ideation and severe anxiety. Beyond Metanoia, I am an External Examiner for three counselling undergraduate programmes validated by Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and an External Consultant for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy(BACP), supporting the redevelopment of the national Online and Phone Therapy curriculum framework. Across these roles, my work focuses on curriculum development, quality assurance and professional standards within the sector.
